Make a Free Logo for Your Website in Easy Steps

A good looking logo is a significant element of any marketing campaign. Having a unique logo puts you apart from the contest, appeals to visitors, and gives your website a professional look. In this article, we’ll explain you how to create a logo from scratch that fits impeccably into your Wordpress site.

As in our previous discussion we are dealing with local business theme therefore the following steps are for the Local Business Theme, but the process is usually the same for other themes. In any case, you may need to manage if you’re using a different theme. Custom logo dimensions can differ from theme to theme, so be confident you locate the logo’s dimensions in the theme you’re using before making your logo!
Let's move to create a beautiful logo for your website.

1    Open the Admin Dashboard of your website, click on Appearances and after that click on Theme Options.

2     Take a look to the right of the Custom Logo box. Here, it says: Optimal size: 300px Wide by 90px Height.
Note:
Custom logo size may vary from theme-to-theme.
3     Write 300px Wide by 90px High on a piece of paper and keep it nearby. You’ll need it soon.

8     In the box marked Name, create a name for your logo, here I’m titling mine Logo.
9     Change the Width to the sizes you wrote down in Step 3. In this case, 300px wide by 90px high.
10    Click the box that says Transparent.
11    Click Ok.

12       Now we have a 300x90 blank canvas. See the checkers? That means “clear” or “transparent” in the design world. The checkers are telling us that our graphic will be see-through and any space that
isn’t used by text or art will just display the background of our website.

Ok, now it’s time to get creative! You have some options at this point. May be you work for a business that already has a logo. If so, you’ll need to integrate it into this box.

I’m going to include extra steps now for people who don’t have a logo. If you have a logo designed and ready to go, you can skip to Step 19.

16   Now click on the icon to go to the image page.
17   Move the mouse over the largest image(this one says 128 x 128 px) and right-click. Select Save Image As… then save the image to your desktop.

26    The image will now have 6 blue squares. Hover the mouse over a corner square and hold down the Shift key while moving the mouse to size the image. (The shift key keeps the imageproportional to its original shape, so don’t forget to hold shift!)

32     Name the file Awesome-Logo.png or whatever filename you choose.
Note:
You may need to add .png to the end of the filename. Just double check the file and make sure it is your-file-name.png and actually has the .png extension or Wordpress may not accept it.
33    Save the new logo to the desktop.

34   Ok, our logo is now ready to go onto our Wordpress site. Click on Appearances and then Theme Options.

35     Beneath the Custom Logo box, click Upload Image.
36      Go to your desktop and find the logo file and click Open.
37    The logo will upload and display beneath the Custom Logo box. Everything looks good right? Now scroll down and click Save All Changes.
38    Alright! Now go to your website by rolling over your website’s name in the upper left corner and clicking Visit Site.

39    Ok so we’re back on our site. I see that our logo is implemented into the header. So we’re all good. Remember, the logo is a beacon on the site, it’s prominently displaying on each page, so it’s important that you spend some quality time creating a good logo.

Remember, if something doesn’t look right with your logo, repeat this step-by-step and make something that satisfies you. Experiment. But if you feel overwhelmed by design, don’t be afraid to reach out to a professional (we’ll be covering that later).
